Keymacs were first conceived in the 1970’s. A computer program was needed that could randomly generate pitches and play them back to the player without having to type in each note. The idea behind keymacs was to enable a novice player to practice notes in random order with a keyboard.
GrandOrgue’s keymacs is very easy to use and really gives the student a free-play quality without having to access a computer. This is achieved by randomly generating all notes and passing them to the player.
Keymacs are a key component in GrandOrgue’s full virtual pipe organ and are a great practice tool for a novice. They are much simpler to use than they look.
Keymacs are always accessible in the keymacs menu. They are also a great way to get started practicing the organ.
While computer generated pitches sound unrealistic, we did our best to create pitches that sounded like real organ sounds.
