THE EVENT

The city of Assisi, in collaboration with BEAWARENOW, Punto d’Ascolto Zona Sociale 3, and the Department for Equal Opportunities, mobilized for the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, established by the United Nations in 1999. Two public awareness events were organized: the participatory art performance “Be Aware of Sex Trafficking”, and the inauguration of the photographic exhibition by Lina Franquillo and Anna Katarzyna Bomba

LA campagna

Images, sounds, dance and voices to say stop to violence against women, a violation of human rights too often overlooked, underestimated and not reported.

In Italy, in the first nine months of 2018, 94 women were killed. Ten per month, one every three days. A massacre that makes the presence of territorial structures indispensable, such as the counter of the listening point, so that the victims know that there are places in which to come out of violence together. A violence that takes different forms, one of these is the trafficking of human beings for the purpose of sexual exploitation, a phenomenon as widespread as it is little known for which women pay the highest price. For this, the collaboration between the Municipality of Assisi and our association was born, which is responsible for informing, training and raising awareness of public opinion and the younger generations through the instrument of participatory art, promoting the international campaign “Be aware of sex trafficking “.
